In October 2012, All Eyes West embarked on a tour to the Fest in Gainesville. This is a fairly routine story nowadays, many bands make this trek; for AEW this time however was a little different from their typical outing: Wade Neal, guitarist from indie rock legends Seaweed came along and played with the band. The band had never played as a four piece before, so Wade wrote his own guitar parts and it worked out rather well. On the way to Florida they were able to document this lineup at Rubber Tracks Studio, in Brooklyn, NY. They picked 4 songs from their set, including a few from their forthcoming sophomore LP.
Having this cool recording around, guitarist Jeff Dean pitched the idea to Underground Communique Records to release them as an EP, and they jumped at it.
We decided to make this into a record together, and we’re going to put it out as a 10″ because we’ve never gotten to do one before. That and we figure a cool thing like what this recording documents deserves an out of the ordinary, cool pressing to go along with it. We’re honored to finally get to do something for our buds in AEW, who are one of the hardest working bands in Chicago and great friends too; our favorite recipe for a release.
We’re tentatively planning a December release.
